Please consider joining the Center for Social Impact + Innovation next Thursday, June 10 at noon (NY time) to learn about how companies can and should use contracts as an instrument to protect and promote human rights in the supply chain. In April, the American Bar Association released thirty-three model clauses based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct to proactively address the human rights performance of global supply chains. Attorney Virginia Newman represents corporate clients with multinational supply chains as part of the business and human rights practice group of her law firm, Miller & Chevalier. Professor Kish Parella of the Washington & Lee School of Law studies the risks that multinational business creates for third-parties and how law, policy, and companies should respond with a forthcoming article, Contractual Stakeholderism, that argues corporations should prioritize the avoidance of stakeholder harms. Gastón de los Reyes, a business ethicist, will introduce and moderate the discussion. Register here.
