About this event
A recent article published in the Academy of Management Learning & Education, titled 'Civilise the Business School. For a Civic Management Education', calls for a radical transformation of management education as a necessary step to meaningfully tackle the grand challenges of our time. Civility is a learnt behaviour, which requires questioning the assumptions that generate dysfunctional consequences such as rampant inequality and ecological destruction.
The article outlines the theoretical framework needed to enable pathways for civility. This seminar builds on that to explore practical pathways for change. How can the business school – and the university more broadly – be transformed to promote "the pursuit of ecological flourishing, inclusive of human flourishing"? Where are the leverage points – where in the current system are the opportunities for change? Where to start?
The article is available at this link; a preprint at this link and a summary at this link.
