Human insecurities, innovation and responsible business: Recognition, Empathy and Equity

    Event Details

    Date:
    6 November 2024 at 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Venue:Room H921, Bldg H, Monash University Caulfield campus, Caulfield, VIC, 3000

This hybrid seminar is a call to action, focusing on the urgent challenges of human insecurities and innovation for sustainable business strategies for creating social impact.

The complexity of human insecurities is entangled with geopolitical insecurities.  Therefore, these challenges are multifaceted, informed by gender, race, caste, and class and are driven by economic and political unrest and cultural and ecological crises.

The seminar will explore the level of complexity by underscoring the strategic urgency of innovation that supports the aims of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to ground justice and equity in the social economy.

Our focus is on the strategic urgency of collaboration and co-innovation between businesses and academic research. We assume such collaboration is essential to gather and generate new perspectives, and reimagine and reclaim equity and justice in the created value for the affected communities.

Such collaboration is crucial when nation-states, NGOs and international institutions have continued to fail to recognise the need for justice for minority communities who are caught up in armed conflict, displacement and citizenship loss.

By recognizing the relevance of technological capacities of innovation for socialising the digitalized economy virtually and in reality, our panel members will explore such intervention strategies that transcend the borders of nation-states and boundaries of citizenship, and entitlements.
