The space economy is no longer shaped only by state agencies and traditional aerospace incumbents.
It is becoming a complex innovation ecosystem involving public agencies, startups, platform providers, scientific communities, private firms, open-source contributors, and downstream users. As satellite development, space tourism, off-planet resource exploration, and space-enabled services expand, innovation increasingly depends on collaboration across organizational, sectoral, and community boundaries.
This roundtable explores how open innovation practices, digital platforms, and ecosystem strategies shape the development and commercialization of space technologies. We will discuss how public–private and community-based collaboration can accelerate innovation, manage technological risk, and influence value creation, governance, and sustainability in the Space Economy.
