Wisdom Studio's new episode explores how organizations, professions, and employees would be affected in a near future if AI technology intensifies automation in an unregulated context. Dr. Ryan Fuller, an expert on organizational communication, joins program co-hosts Elisabeth Nunziato and Dr. Hakan Ozcelik to present a strategic scenario, The Matrix, to analyze what would happen if everything at work were gamified to increase employee engagement and employees' behaviors, attitudes, and feelings were continuously monitored by AI systems to enhance performance. In an imaginary future where too much power is given to technology, the scenario depicts a fictitious workplace treating employees as data sources, where employees are tracked, nudged, and optimized by AI systems to shape their behavior at scale.
A subsequent Q&A session provides further insights about how the benefits of high AI automation in an unregulated context could be distributed fairly in the society, what key decisions or practices would be needed in an unregulated context to effectively reap the benefits of AI automation, and how individual self-regulation would come into play in an unregulated environment where AI intensifies automation.
